What is the purpose of this site?
This tumblr is to keep track of things I find fun, creative, challenging, interesting… etcetera. I spend a lot of time (too much!) reading things online, and I want to keep a scrapbook (of sorts) of things that inspire me.

My blog is to record my progress of learning to use my camera, as well as have an excuse to practice writing. I have had a Canon Rebel camera for a couple years now, but recently realized I haven’t invested much time into really learning how it works. I also have a somewhat compulsive need to write to remember my life, and I hope to record some of those memories. That said, I have five main purposes for the blog: track my progress learning photography skills, share my photographs, share knowledge that I gain, hold myself accountable for completing this project, and inspire others to follow their passions.

What’s behind the name “kateasarus?”
The night I was trying to think of for this site, my brother jokingly suggested kateasarus. I have the Threadless tee-shirt that has the brontosaurs (actually called an Apatosaurus) hugging the giraffe. I actually had to buy a reprint of the shirt because I wore the other one too many times! I imagined the brontosaurus with a camera around it’s long green neck, and knew the name would stick.

What does that have to do with photography?
Nothing!
